The Journey Has Begun

The Back Story

Last year we were afforded the opportunity to become part of a cluster called Ko te Tihi o Matauranga Cluster - a Christchurch wide project made up of five different communities of schools. We are part of the Hillmorton Community. The aim of this project was to ensure that our students had access to suitable digital technologies at home and at school. It is all about building digital learning capabilities.

In a nutshell we are a part of a number of local schools who will receive Ministry assistance to further develop eLearning in our schools.

Serendipity means a "fortunate happenstance" or "pleasant surprise". It was coined by Horace Walpole in 1754.

We feel very fortuntate to have been availed the opportunity to be part of this - this opportunity was a fortunate happentance - it was serendipitous - we were in the right place at the right time but not only that - everything we had done right up to that point meant that we were very well placed to take up this opportunity.

We were catapulted forward and in the short space of 6 months we were ready for a 1:1 device roll out - growing from having pods of IT resources to 1:1 Chromebooks from Years 5-8.

Read more about this here.

We are now in Week 4 of our project and have decided to document our amazing journey from here on in.

We will blogging regularly so make sure you check in and keep with us as we move forward. Exciting times!
